Shona was on holiday in Dubai with Alick her brother, his wonderful wife Claire and wee brother Bruce on a postponed 21st celebration for Bruce. Having a great time, and enjoying life to the full, Shona and Bruce ventured off to the Hard Rock Café for dinner on the 21st September - little did Shona know that that she was going to meet her match!
Meantime in another part of Dubai, a bunch of bikers were planning their Wednesday night blitz! Brett, Kyle, Amigo and the rest of the bikers were going to paint the town red! The call came out "Lock up your daughter's, lock up your wives as the boys are back in town!" They decided to leave the Gourmet Coffee Shop and head to the Hard Rock Cafe for an amber liquid. Twenty bikes rode their way up Sheikh Zayed Road. Little did Brett realise that this was going to be the night where destiny was going to play a big part. "Check out the Harley's" Bruce said - snapping photo's of all the Harley Davidson Bikes parked outside the Hard Rock Cafe. "I'd love a ride on one of those" Bruce muttered. (A bee in Shona's bonnet said "hmmmm"!!) Into the Hard Rock Café they went, and Shona - straight to the bar through the throngs of Bikers to order a drink. Checking out the Bikers, she went up to the toughest looking Biker chap and said "Can you take Bruce for a ride?" This tough, biker chap, Brett, with all his mates, was stunned into silence (in his head he was saying "the cheeky so and so - we don't give people rides!") As Brett stood in silence - hesitating….., Kyle and Jasim - kindly said "Come with us on our bikes"! (Shona was getting a ride too - she wanted to follow in a taxi!!).
Brett couldn't believe that this 'Sheila' was riding tandem on this big Harley with shorts and high heel shoes. So, of they all went around Dubai at night - WOW it was great. Brett warmed to Shona - the cheeky intruder from Scotland, promptly adopted as 'Numpy' (cheeky Ozzie sod!)

No-one really knows what happened........but something clicked for Brett and Shona, and they spent the next few evenings together, chatting, laughing, singing, dancing and really enjoying themselves. Little did they both know, but the cupid's arrow had struck. Over the next 10 months - Brett and Shonie (Brett's newly adopted name for her!) travelled back and forth from Baku to Dubai. (Baku being the adventure, and Dubai for sunbathing and shopping!) Later on, a mad dash around the world they met family and friends over 4 Continents knowing that their future was to be together. Brett and Shona now welcome their family and friends to join them on their special days for their wedding - to have fun, enjoy and share their wedding. |
